1. 1.魚帽子　“The Fish Cap”     75 x 55mm
   

ビクトリア朝時代のロンドンに流行した、魚をデザインした帽子。

横から下がっているヒモを引く事で、魚の口が開閉し、内部の空調が

行われた。一部の中年男性に絶大な 人気を博す。

Popular during the Victorian era, this was a hat fashioned after a fish. By pulling a string which hung down to the side, the fish's mouth opened and closed, performing an internal air-conditioning. It won great popularity among some middle-age men.

2. 海月傘　“The Jellyfish Umbrella”　  85 x 65mm

大西洋フェロー諸島沖に生息する大クラゲを使い日傘に仕立てたもの。

クラゲの性質をうまく取り入れており、その水分を含んだ材質からもっぱら

夏期の使用が好まれた。優美な形状から、主に上流階級の女性に人気。

A parasol formed from a huge jellyfish which inhabited the Atlantic Faroe Islands. Utilizing the property of the jellyfish well and containing moisture, it was mainly used during the summer. Because its elegant shape, it was mainly poplar among the woman of the upper class.

3. アンコウ靴　“The Angler Shoes”　  60 x 75mm

夜間の歩行時に用いられた。

提灯アンコウの光を利用し、常に歩く先を照らす事で、夜間における歩行の

安全を実現。その愛らしい表情から多くの愛好者がいたといわれる。

ただし光の強さはあまり強くないため、走ったりする場合は十分に機能しな

かったという。

It was used for a night walk. Using the light of the lantern angler, it lit up the point to always walk and realized the security in the dark. From this lovely expression, there were many lovers. But because the strength of the light was so strong and was said it did not function enough for running.

4. 蛸気球　“The Octopus Balloon”　  90 x 70mm

バミューダ沖に生息する巨大蛸を使った気球。

非常に優れた性能を持った気球ではあったが、素材となる巨大蛸の捕獲に

大変多くの犠牲がともなうため、結果、一機のみの製作となった。

1872 年大西洋横断達成。

The balloon used the huge octopus which inhabited the Bermuda Islands offing. Although it made for very superior materials, capturing the huge octopus also brought heavy sacrifice. In the end, only 1 was ever produced.

5. 魚スプーン　“The Fish Spoon”　  75 x 70mm

小魚の煮干しをスプーンの形状に加工し、使用。

どんなに味のない料理でも、このスプーンを使うことで、常に魚の味付けが

なされ、おいしく食することができた。また、食事の終わりにはこのスプーン

も食べてしまえるとあって、 密かにメイドにも人気があった。

The spoon was made of dried small sardines which spaped the spoon. Using this spoon, no matter how flavorless the food was it was always seasoned and delicious. It was also edible at the end of the meal, making it a popular secret among maids.

6. 猫ワナ　“The Cat Trap”　  70 x 90mm

野良猫駆除のために発明された捕獲罠。

魚のにおいに引き寄せられた猫が口の中に入ると、口が閉じる仕組みになって

いた。しかし、中から食べられて逃げられてしまうことがわかり、早々に回収

された。

The cat trap which was invented for the extermination of street cats. When a cat was drawn into the mouth by the smell of the fish, a trap was set causing the mouth to close. However, it was soon realized that the cat could eat its way out from inside and escape. It was soon discontinued.

7. 電気うなぎサスペンダー　“The Electric Eel Suspender”　  75 x 60mm

アンコウ靴同様、夜間の歩行に使用。

こちらは、2 匹の電気うなぎを使用しているため、非常に強い光を得ることが

できた。しかし、時として感電する恐れがあったため、すぐに生産は中止された。

It was used for a night walk also and able to get very strong light. Because of a threat of getting shocked, the product was cancelled immediately.

8. 魚マスク　“The Fish Mask”　  70 x 80mm

風邪の流行を防ぐ目的で発明される。

マスクの着用によって相手が聞き取りづらい場合、横のヒモを引く事で、

魚の口を開閉し話すことができた。しかし、そうすることで菌の感染防止

という効果は、あまり望めなかったという。

It was invented for the purpose of preventing the spread of colds. When it was hard to hear someone by the wearing of the mask, the customer opened and closed the mouth of the fish by pulling the face side string. And also it was able to speak. However, doing so meant that preventing infection was not so easy.

9. 烏賊ペン　“The Squid Pen”　  70 x 60mm

天然イカを利用したイカ型万年筆。

イカのくちばしをペン先として利用しているため、どんなこだわりを持った

万年筆マニアをも唸らせる書き味を実現。加えて、イカスミ独特の濃黒は多くの

イカペン愛好家を生み出した傑作。しかも手紙をしたためている間、ちょっと

つまみに足を一本・・・と、とても便利な烏賊ペン。

The fountain pen which made use of a natural squid. Because of using the bill of the squid as a pen point, let fountain pen maniacs with any kind of feeling admired. The peculiar dark black ink produced many squid pen lovers. And while writing letter, its foot become a snack in convenience.

10. 観賞用ワカメ　“The Admiration Seaweed”　  75 x 65mm

海藻をこよなく愛した博士ならではの発明。

産業社会の到来によって人々にもたらされた多くのストレスの解消を目的に開発された。ただ、ワカメを眺めるにすぎないものであるが、不思議と癒し効果を発揮。海底を散歩

しているかのような夢想に浸ることができる。別に『観賞用コンブ』もある。

An invention only possible by a Doctor who loved seaweed. It was developed to erase the stress brought on people by the arrival of the industrial society. It was shown to have a healing effect, though it was only for appreciate. The customer could indulge in a dream as if strolling at the bottom of the sea. There was also Admiration Kelp.

11. カニでんわ　“The Crab Telephone”　  65 x 75mm

カニの形態をうまく利用した電話。

電話が鳴ると、主人のところまで走っていってわたす、という優れた機能を保持するも、

その鋭いハサミで時々、線を切ってしまうことがあり、注意が必要。

A telephone which used the formed of the crab well. It possessed the brilliant ability to move and hand itself to the owner when it rang. However, because of its sharp scissors it sometimes cut its cord, so caution was required.

12. フグ型飛行船　“The Globefish type Airship”　  75 x 90mm

フグの膨らむ習性を応用してつくられた飛行船。

極めて快適な空の旅を満喫できた飛行船ではあったが、時々、毒にあてられた

かのように船酔いをする乗客がいたため、厳しい管理が必要であった。

また、他の飛行船とすれ違う際は細心の注意が必要であり、もっぱら熟練した

パイロットが操縦したという。

An airship which was modeled after a blown-up blowfish. Though able to provide the most pleasant air travel, passengers sometimes experienced a motion-sickness akin to being poisoned. Strict management and scrupulous attention were necessary. Also, extreme care was needed when passing other airships, so a very experienced pilot was crucial.

13. コバンザメレター　“The Remora Letter”　  85 x 70mm

相手に間接的に伝えたい用件がある場合に用いられた手紙の一形式。

とりわけ恋文用として人気を博す。    

使用方法;

1. 別れ際に、相手の背中にさりげなくくっつけておく。

2. 2.帰宅後、背中の手紙に気付く。
   

Once from of a letter which was used when there was a matter that the customer wanted to tell to their partner indirectly. Especially it was popular for love letters.

Usage

1, When parting, casually attach it to the back of your partner.

2. After returning your partner will notice the letter of their back.

14. ネコよけウニ　“The Cat Extermination Sea Urchin”　  85 x 70mm

『 猫ワナ 』 同様、野良猫駆除のために発明されたもの。

トゲのついたウニをばらまくことで、野良猫を寄せ付けないようにしたシンプルな

発明であったが、またしても猫の格好の餌となってしまう。あちこちで満足な表情を

した猫が歩いていたという。

As with the 'Cat Trap', it was also invented for the extermination of street cats. By scattering sea urchins with prickles, it became a simple invention that prevented cats from coming around. Yet again, it also become a suitable snack for cats. It is said that satisfied looking cats would walk hither and thither.

Dr. Kelp was an inventor who flourished mainly in London of the 19th century, well-known for his products of fish and shellfish. He was anxious about a flood of goods of poor quality brought by the mass production after the Industrial Revolution.Aiming to improve the quality of life with better tools, to enrich it truly, he announced a lot of inventions. However, few of them survive today, and the most part of his life still remains a mystery.
